Who's Who - John & Sue Wood

 
John was born and grew up in the Rotherhithe & Bermondsey area and has been associated with the church in Drummond Road since the age of seven, originally through the Boys’ Brigade.On leaving school he worked as a local postman for over 30 years before becoming a full-time church leader in 1999.

John became a Christian in his late teens when he was advised by his Bible class leader that he wouldn’t know what it is like to be a Christian until he tried it for himself – to taste and see

John’s area’s of responsibility in the church include membership, pastoral care – particularly for those new to the church and the older members, oversight of the buildings and Gift Aid administration.

Other interests include his wife Sue and their 3 children, gardening, photography and sport – although these days this is confined to armchair viewing!

Sue also comes from the local area and has been married to John for around 30 years. Sue currently works in Human Resources for a Mission Agency based in Waterloo but for many years previously was the church administrator. Sue enjoys reading and walking (nothing too strenuous) and ironing – yes really!
